Summer Studio: Discovering Graphic Design is a free, four-week program for 10 talented Bridgeport rising high school juniors and seniors interested in the visual arts. Built to encourage emerging artists to exercise their creativity, Summer Studio teaches the basic principles, skills, and tools of great design while showcasing the possibilities of a career in the design industry.
Led by professionals, the program explores design challenges, like typography and composition, while giving students hands-on Adobe suite experience. Participants will complete three projects that let them flex their vision while implementing the real-world skills they’re gaining in Summer Studio.
All supplies will be provided, including laptops, software, meals, and transportation. Additionally, students will meet mentors in industries like media, entertainment, and advertising—opening career pathways where art is an option.
Benefits of Summer Studio: Discovering Graphic Design include hands-on learning tools like Microsoft Surface Pro laptops that participants can keep, as well as a 1-year subscription to the Adobe Creative Suite. Additionally, students will have access to professionals and mentors. Transportation and meals will be provided for class time. The estimated value of this program is $2,500, free to 10 Bridgeport rising high school juniors and seniors.
