Melanie Uribe is a Venezuelan Creative Director and Associate Professor of Art and Design at Southern Connecticut State University. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Florida Atlantic University, a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Central Florida, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
Uribe’s work has been recognized through numerous awards, grants, and exhibitions at both national and international venues. Her creative research examines how exhibition spaces function as platforms for communication, connection, and cultural narrative. As an immigrant, she uses storytelling—both personal and collective—to explore themes of migration, identity, and displacement.
Uribe’s current projects integrate digital interactive experiences and augmented reality to create immersive, emotion-driven narratives. Her work seeks to amplify the voices of refugees and displaced communities, highlighting the struggles and resilience of those forced to leave their homes in search of safety and belonging.
Alongside her research and creative practice, Uribe is an advocate for inclusive design education and emerging technologies. She has presented her work at conferences, exhibitions, and academic institutions across the U.S. and abroad.
