An Evening with Design Legend Gail Anderson

How do bottle cap designs inspire contemporary type treatments? Can posters increase attendance at Broadway shows? How many books can one write with Steven Heller? What is the future of editorial design? What do the 900+ advertising and design students at SVA think of their new leader?

Gail Anderson will answer these questions and more at this special evening celebrating her career, work, and design leadership.

Gail Anderson is currently the Chair of BFA Advertising and BFA Design for the School of Visual Arts, where she has taught design for more than 25 years. She is also a partner at Anderson Newton Design and serves on the Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee for the USPS. Previously, she served as creative director of design at SpotCo, an advertising agency that creates artwork for theater, and as senior art director of Rolling Stone. In 2018, Gail received the Lifetime Achievement National Design Award from the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum and the Lifetime Achievement Medal from AIGA in 2008. She is co-author of a dozen books on design, illustration, and typography and she has really curly but increasingly dry hair.
